Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi took charge as the 29th Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University on July 31, 2025. With decades of distinguished service in higher education leadership and cutting-edge telecom research, his vision focuses on fostering an environment of impactful interdisciplinary research, academic rigor, and holistic student growth.
Prior to joining BHU, Prof. Chaturvedi served as the Director of IIT Roorkee (2017–2022) and held senior administrative roles at IIT Kanpur, including Deputy Director, Dean of R&D, and Head of Electrical Engineering.
Strengthening curriculum standards, interdisciplinary pedagogy, and student-centric academic environments.
Promoting high-citation scholarly research, physical layer communication technologies, and industry-led patents.
Fostering international university collaborations, joint degree initiatives, and global academic exchange programs.
Modernizing campus ICT systems, administrative governance, and tech-enabled learning infrastructure.
